Twinkle Twinkle

This cake is for my in-laws, they always ask me for cake when they visit, and recently I couldn't make anything for them,I mean I was pregnant and I guess my taste buds at that point were off!!!

anyhow, once again my buddy and I spread the work out, we baked the cake and icing on one day and then decorated it the next.

I had the cake idea in mind, but we figured out the details as we went along, the colours, marbling and so on.

The cake is white chocolate with surprise Hersheys kisses inside, and has white chocolate icing. Its covered in fondant.

Rubber Duckies

This is my first kid cake, its for my friends sons first birthday.

A friend of mine and I are trying to start our own baking and cake company, so we are doing the projects together.

In this cake, we split the work into days, one day the icing, and we sculpted the duckies. She made the second duckie in the row, I made the rest, after making the mama duck, I enjoyed it so much that I kept on sculpting them and got better at it!!! My friend took some fondant home and made the grass and reeds at the back.
One day before the party date, I made the cake, filled it and gave it a small layer of icing. The day of the party my friend joined me and we completed the design.
All in all, having done the work over several days and with my friend made it even more enjoyable and made it easier.
The recipient was very very happy with the cake so was her little boy, when they cut the cake my heart sank, I couldnt take seeing them eat the duckies either, I guess I put my heart into this cake, i wanted to hug it!!!!

P.S. The cake is chocolate cake with vanilla icing and filling, I added a light syrup to the cake and it made oh sooo good!!!!

My Biggest Cake

The biggest cake I have ever made. For my sisters engagement party. I sculpted the roses by hand using white chocolate clay. I did enjoy making the cake and did learn many important lessons.

For example, her party was in another country, and when choosing the flavour, they were interested in chocolate raspberry, when I asked if they had raspberries there, they said yes, once I arrived, turns out they are very expensive and sour!!! Their frozen strawberries weren't any better. Lesson, choose a simple flavour u can find everywhere.

Anyhow, I had a great time making it. I baked it with my mom, who was excited about making the cake with me. She said I can give her orders, it felt awkward giving my mom orders, but we made a great team. My mom loves baking and decorating cakes and I guess I inherited that!!!

I took with me many of my supplies even the chocolate clay, but had to search for others such as the boxes to transport the cake in. Its a challenge searching for supplies in a foreign city, but doable. But overall, its a good experience and I believe I can tackle another three tier cake!!!

Welcome

Hello and Welcome to my blog. I just created this blog without really thinking, but lets see where it goes. The name just popped in my head, if I had been thinking about it I would have taken forever to name it!!! Alien comes from the fact I loved astronomy when I was younger and my family called me an alien. Baking since I love to make desserts, its a passion!!!

Anyhow, I ll try to blog about cool stuff here and there regarding my life and what I like, baking, news etc. Since I am a mom too I will put mommy stuff.
Enjoy and dont forget to comment!!!!
